Come to the Area Contest to support your favorite speaker try to move to the Division level contest.  This is a great opportunity for all club members to push their boundaries, whether you compete or take on a contest role.  The District level competitions for the International Speech Contest and Evaluation Contest, will take place during the District Conference in North Vancouver, over the March 29 - 31, 2019 weekend.

Douglas College is located just blocks from the New Westminster Skytrain Station.

Our next meeting will be our Area B20 Contest where you will see some of our most experienced speakers and hear the stories behind their speeches.

The area contest will be in three parts: Speech Contest, Evaluation Contest, and Table Topic (Impromptu Speech) Contest.

The winners of the contest will advance to the Division level, and if successful, they may compete in the Toastmaster International World Championship of Public Speaking Contest!

Time:  Arrive 5:00 – 5:15 pm, as Attendees and Contestants need to be escorted to the meeting room and sign-in with north Security by 5:15 pm.  Contest begins at 5:30 pm.

 

LocationICBC head office, 151 West Esplanade Avenue, North Vancouver, BC (located by Lonsdale Quay, around the blue building to the main street doors across from Shoppers Drug Mart.)

 

Directions:  Enter through the north-east door & press the buzzer. Tell Security you're there for Toastmasters & they'll let you in. Sign in (name, phone number)  You'll need your picture ID.  Sit down, relax & wait. An ICBC employee will escort you to the meeting room.

Area J80 contests will be held at the BC Hydro Edmonds Auditorium (6pm-8pm) located at 6911 Southpoint  Drive, Burnaby, BC ground level.  Conveniently located steps away from the Edmonds Skytrain Station.

Attendees and guests are invited to arrive by 5:30pm to mingle.  Light refreshments and coffee will be provided.

The best speakers from Burnaby will be competing for a chance to represent District 96 at the Toastmasters International Speech Contest in Paris, France on August 5-8, 2020.
