Start Date

Visit Declarations for SUCCESS Toastmasters and see how our community club can help you enhance your self-confidence and build the speaking and leadership skills needed to achieve your goals.

At our meeting, you will see how our warm, supportive atmosphere and self-directed programs enable our members to achieve their communications and leadership goals.  You will also see how our collaborative approach and progressive programs enable our members to reach a level of excellence in speaking skills that is far beyond what is typically achieved in multi-thousand dollar seminars and courses (by comparison, Declarations Toastmasters dues are less than the cost of buying a latte before every meeting).

Our club's commitment to growing our members' communication and leadership skills has been integral to our success. By pairing new members with experienced public speaking mentors, new starts at the Declarations Toastmasters Club have the opportunity to jump start their progress.

Our community of members runs the gamut from college-age to active seniors and comes from many diverse walks of life and ethnicities.  Our members and guests come from across the Metro Vancouver area and work in a wide range of occupations, including education, law, medicine, sales, information technology, homemaking, financial services, insurance, real estate, and many others.

We welcome new members at all levels of communications and leadership experience, as a large part of our success comes from our diversity!

Visit us at our next meeting and see how we can support you in developing your speaking skills. We look forward to seeing you soon!

Get Your Club Online

District 96 has a number of online resources for promoting the value of becoming a Toastmaster and helping clubs gain new members.

BC Toastmasters Facebook Page:

The intended use of this page is to create awareness and promote the value - to the general public - of becoming a Toastmaster. The province of British Columbia is served by two Districts - District 96 and District 21 - so this Facebook Page is a shared resource.

How to Build a Toastmasters Club

Congratulations on your exciting decision to start a Toastmasters club. Because of dedicated people like you, more than 1,000 new Toastmasters clubs are chartered each year and hundreds of thousands of people worldwide are becoming more successful communicators and leaders. In deciding to start a club, you have taken on an important leadership role. Ralph Smedley believed that people can discover their latent leadership talents by participating in the regular activities of a Toastmasters club.

Inspirational Speakers Advanced - new Charter Club

It is always exciting when District 96 welcomes a new club in Toastmasters, and we are excited to introduce a new opportunity for members.

The Inspirational Speakers Advanced Club was chartered on June 24, 2020, and is the brain child of Shayan Shakeraneh. Through discussions with Gene Vickers, a bit of brainstorming and reaching out to fellow Toastmasters, posting advertisements on Facebook, on the evening of June 24, 2020, via Zoom, a Demo Meeting was held, and about 43 Toastmasters joined in to learn more.

Need Club Promotion Ideas?

Sometimes we just need ideas and how to get started on a worthwhile project. If you’re like me, reading a quick list of ideas others have used can get the juices flowing and a plan comes together. Adding an Open House (or two or three) to your Club Success Plan this year as a way to promote your Club, is a sound idea. But then what?

Start Date

Featured Ringside Rivals: Darren Frew & David Nimmo - Both advanced speakers!

Please join co-hosts:

Still Relevant

The ability to communicate is just as important today as it was pre Covid. Skills in leadership and communication are highly valued in corporations and in our communities. One could be the best in the world in their job, but if they lack confidence or skills to lead others their career could suffer.

OnlineToastmasters will still teach members to:

Toastmaster Leadership Institute with Club Officer Training

(Membership & Retention)

Open to all Toastmasters (not just club officers)

Saturday July 24, 2021

8:30 – 3:30pm

Does your club want more members? Do you want your members staying? If you said YES, you’ll want to be at this TLI. Bring your curiosity and your questions and leave with answers.

Sneak Peek:

  • Membership Panel Discussion with members of Division J. This Division defied the odds and was President’s Distinguished Division. (Find out their secret sauce)
  • Facebook – We all know why it can be useful, but here we will dive into the HOW.
  • Games – For the Win and retention
  • Professional Development Units
  • Hybrid Clubs (lots of effort is going on behind the scenes in preparation for hybrid meetings) The afternoon will be club officer training with trainers who will be supporting club officers this year.

Club Officer Training Trained club officers translate into a club’s ultimate success.

Did you know: Of the 28 clubs that were President’s Distinguished (last year) that all of those clubs had officers trained in the first round last year? 17 of those clubs had all 7 officers trained.

All members deserve to be in a thriving club and have a rich Toastmasters experience. As a club officer you have the important role in helping to create this. Attend this virtual live Training to receive credit for your role. Bring all your club officers, it’s a great learning opportunity and gives credit toward the Distinguished Club Program.

If you are a new club officer or new Toastmaster…

• You become part of group of peers, which is now your support group.

• Just like starting a new job where you are trained, we similarly provide you the tools and resources to be successful.

If you are a prior officer holding the same position in 2020/2021:

• Share best practices and what you wish you had known when you first started the role

• Sharing your expertise with others is appreciated.

• Gain a fresh perspective.

• Consider volunteering to help with the training.

• Network with others, consider joint club meetings or virtual banner raids or discuss your club adopting another club to help them become better.

• Connect with newer club officers and offer to assist or mentor.

If you are not yet a Club Officer attend the training for these reasons:

• You can be on a VP PR or VP Education committee in your club

• You can volunteer to be the assistant to the role.

• If you are considering a Club Officer role in the future, you can understand the responsibilities in advance.

• Make the most out of your Toastmasters experience and bring your learnings back to your club to provide everyone the BEST Toastmaster Experience possible.
