Devon Downie, DTM

Devon Downie has been a Toastmaster since May 2008. She first joined Rogers Communicators corporate club in Toronto and 8 months later joined Eden-Epsom Toastmasters in Auckland, New Zealand. Since returning to her home town of Vancouver, Devon has been a member of Racquenteurs Toastmasters since September 2010 where she held club officer roles of Treasurer, VP Education, and President. She has been a Club Coach, Club Mentor and Pathways Guide.  Devon has held the District Leadership roles including Area Governor, Division L Governor. She was also the first person in the newly formed District 96 to achieve the coveted DTM (Distinguished Toastmaster award). She is the 2017 International Speech Contest District 96 Champion who placed 11th in the world for Public Speaking and is the current reigning District 96 Evaluation Contest Champion. To say Devon has a love for Toastmasters is an understatement. 

She has been a Learning & Development professional for over a decade helping employees increase skill and knowledge in technical, professional development and safety training for small and large, private and public sector organizations. Devon holds a Bachelor of Honours Commerce from McMaster University, a certificate in Adult Training and Development from the University of Toronto and is a Certified Training and Development Professional (CTDP) with the Institute for Performance and Learning and is currently working on her Masters in Educational Technology at UBC. She hopes to motivate others with her passion for learning.
