D96 SPOTLIGHT - November 2023
By Melody Helleouet, District 96 Public Relations Manager 2023-2024 Newsletter Initiative
For this month of November 2023, our D96 SPOTLIGHT focuses on Rob Evans, DTM our District 96 Webmaster! All the way from the Canadian East to now the West Coast, Rob has been a proud Toastmaster for over 21-years. His journey started off in Halifax, Nova Scotia at Schooner Toastmasters Club back in 2002 through to his move to New Westminster in 2013 now as a member of Tillicum Toastmasters ever since. His personal journey seeking to make connections in a new found place to call home is one that many of us within District 96 can relate to.
As a web developer for the City of Burnaby, Rob uses his day-to-day skills and expertise on the job to support our District 96 website infrastructure. If you’ve ever had a need or curiosity to check out information posted on our District 96 Website (www.d96toastmasters.ca) then you’ve already reaped the benefits of Rob’s handy work! From ensuring our District information, Club Officer Training and events, news, articles, resources are always available, Rob has mastered the task of making sure our website runs smoothly to ensure the success of our ongoing communication with our members, guests and the general public.
In addition to his talent in web mastery, Rob is also enthusiastic about competing in International Speech Contests making it all the way to District level in previous years. As a recipient of the Unsung Hero Award for 2021-2022, Rob has been recognized as a Toastmaster who makes a significant contribution to the goals and mission of the District. As described by Life Expressions Podcast on YouTube, Rob is a “true beacon of excellence and achievement in the world of public speaking and leadership.”
We hope you enjoy our 1-on-1 video interview with Rob (which also includes stage time by none other than his furry companion, Java). On behalf of District 96 and all of our members, we appreciate you Rob for your amazing work and commitment behind the scenes. Our Toastmasters CORE values truly come to life thanks to you!
